Our client required removal of legacy wastewater treatment infrastructure installed during original plant construction while maintaining uninterrupted plant operations. SBX performed extensive utility locating and verification to identify active systems prior to excavation and demolition. Demolition sequencing was developed to allow portions of each facility to remain operational while adjacent units were removed.
At one location, demolition was completed around in-service equipment and unexpected low-strength concrete backfill without impacting schedule. At the second location, SBX rerouted influent piping and installed temporary treatment systems prior to demolition due to space constraints. All work was executed within tight footprints under strict nuclear safety requirements and completed without operational disruptions or safety incidents.
